Presentation Evening 2017

The annual presentation evening is usually held in October.  In 2017 it was held on Friday November 3, at Aston Wood Golf Club.  Photos from this event will soon be available.

Paul Sebastian Cup

This trophy is presented annually to ‘the member of the year’, the person who fellow members feel  has contributed the most to the club in the previous year, continuing the traditions upon which the club was founded.   The recipient is nominated by club members and voted for at the club’s AGM.  The trophy is presented by Laureen Tunstall, Paul's sister, and is announced by the previous year's winner.

This person is chosen by the Committee for their commitment and achievements for the club and has been presented to a male member from 2011.

Jane Buckerfield Trophy

This person is chosen by the Committee for their commitment and achievements for the club and has been presented to a female member from 2011.  The cup is presented by Dave Buckerfield.

The pothunter trophy goes to the member with the most points who has not qualified for an overall or age category prize.  The novice trophy goes to the member with the most points who has not won an ARC award before.

Aldridge 10k

Every year, club members act as stewards and officials for the Aldridge 10k, then we hold our own competition around the 10k and 4.3k routes the following Tuesday evening.  2016/17 winners were:
10k: Liam Harrold and Karen Kiteley
4.3k
: Nick Ford and Joanna Stevens.

Club handicap

Ron Reynolds organised the club handicap races, which were run monthly from April until September.  Individual race winners for 2016/17 were: Paul Shotton, Robert Wishart, Zoe James, Rebecca Grimshaw, Tim Farmer and Kay McHugh.
The final overall winner was: Laura Kirwan.

Distinction Awards

These awards are made by the club committee, in recognition of noteworthy achievements. 
2016/17 winners were: ​
  • Paul Butler - Contribution to mustering and guidance and support to other club members 
  • Claire Gibbs - first half marathon and supporting other club members
  • Helen Hartle - For running her first marathon and offering support & mustering to other club members
  • Sarah Hinkley - For successfully taking on the role of Race Director for the Aldridge 10k
  • Nicola James - first half marathon and supporting other club members
  • Barbara Johnson - sucessfully taking on the role of children's Race Director 
  • Laura Kirwan - Improvement in running , also supporting and encouraging other runners
  • Karen Kiteley - Consistent improvement in running
  • Ian Malsbury - Running improvement and supporting other club members
  • Laura Malsbury - doing two marathons in two weeks and supporting other club members
  • Sarah Parker-Jones Hall - first half marathon and improvement in running
  • Helen Peake - First Half Marathon and improvement in running
  • Mike Rogers - Inspiration and determination, also for getting a London Marathon Good For Age time at Lyons 
  • Lisa Wakemen - first marathon (Birmingham), getting London Marathon Good For Age time, also for mustering

Cross Country

​The men's team finished in 4th place in the 3rd division, missing out on promotion by 1 place.

The ladies' team finished 16th out of 25 clubs in the 2nd Division, and 12th out of 20 Masters' teams.

Best of the Vest

Each year we hold a competition for the best photograph of an ARC vest (or vests) in an unusual situation/location. 

The
2016/17 award went to Dave McHugh.
