Week Ending December 28

The Christmas holiday period offered, as usual, extra parkrun opportunities.

ARC had 67 parkrunners and walkers on Christmas Day, then 46 on Saturday December 27.

Congratulations to our top-ten finishers: Daniel Pheasant (1st, 3rd Age Grade), Alex Dicken (3rd), Andrew Wood (4th), Luke White (6th), Mark Shaw (7th, 6th Age Grade), Bruce Fanshawe (8th), Lorraine Beesley (8th lady, 4th Age Grade, then 5th lady, 2nd Age Grade), Alex Dicken (9th), Nathan Whale (10th on both occasions) and Hannah Noon (10th lady), also to Steve Hammond, who was placed 10th in the age-graded table for his birthday event on Christmas Day, and to Wendy Sargeant and Karen Waple, who were placed 3rd and 9th respectively in the age-graded tables for their event on 27th.

Special congratulations to Steven Grice, our only member to find a way of fitting in a parkrun before Wheaton Aston 10k on Saturday 27th, where he achieved a PB.

In the Masters' competition our A team of Quentin, Liam, Tom and Neil came 7th and our B team of Mike, Stewart, Mark and Pete came 5th. This leaves Aldridge currently in 11th place in the league of 14 teams.
Midland Women's Cross Country League, race 2 (Cofton Park, Longbridge): Our first team of Sarah Close (39th), Claire Crook (51st), Claire Boyes (53rd) and Helen Beecham (64th) placed us 9th out of 27 teams, with our Masters team of Sarah, Claire and Claire placed 5th. This was a tremendous turnout, a great achievement to have both 'A' and 'B' teams in both main and Masters' competitions.

Saturday 8th also saw the fourth and final race of the 2024-25 Cross Country Season, with the men's team at Aldersley and the women at Coombe Abbey, Coventry. Well done to all who represented the club on another cold and damp afternoon:

Men: Our First team of Quentin Oury (23rd), Toby Oury (29th), Liam Harrold (34th), Andrew Wood (61st), Dan Williams (81st) and Tom Archer (88th) came 8th out of 14 clubs in the main competition, with Quentin, Toby, Liam and Andrew forming our Masters team, which came 4th out of 14 teams in the Masters competition. Our B team of Luke White (95th), Ben Dean (97th), Ryan Noon (125), Mike Morley (127), Neil Day (132) and Mark Shaw (156) came 4th out of 11 teams and Tom, Ben, Ryan and Mike formed a Masters B team, coming 5th in that table. Our team was completed by Chris Moon (171), Harshad Patel (174), David Roberts (190), Pete Dimbleby (193), Mark O'Rourke (194), Stephen Grice (201) and Martin Wall (203). This was a tremendous turnout and an excellent performance, sufficient to lift us up away from the relegation zone, so we can start next season once again in Division 2.
