Week Ending February 8

ARC had 53 parkrunners and walkers on Saturday February 7, with 18 at Walsall Arboretum, 9 at Sutton Park, 4 at Chasewater and 1 at Beacon.

Congratulations to our top-ten finishers this week: Alex Dicken (3rd) and Daniel Williams (6th, 9th Age Grade), also to those who gained an Age Graded score in the top 10 for their event: Mike Morley (1st) and Tom Neal (6th).

Our runners:
  • Walsall Arboretum: Alex Dicken, Daniel Williams, Tom Neal, Jonny Boyes, Pete Dimbleby, Roxy Babla, Stephen Mccann, Sarah Bishop, Victoria O'Connor, Wendy Sargeant, Emily Grimwade, Lawrence Hewitt, Barinderjit Cheema, Mark Chapman, Jane Quinn, Geoff Card, Jack Micklewright and Angela Oury.
  • Sutton Park: Mandeep Chatha, Jack Boden, Stephen Grice, Eamon Lyons, Gemma Archer, Michelle Morgan, Harshad Patel, Emma Preston and Sarah Lyons.
  • Chasewater: Richard Aldridge, Andrew Birkbeck, Michael Mason and Simon Hudson.

  • Cannock Chase: Nicky Jones.
  • Rosliston: Jo Dulson-Cox.
  • Edgbaston Reservoir: George Brizell (PB).
  • Arrow Valley (Reddich): Lee Harris.
  • Brueton (Solihull): Steve Hammond (PB) and Marcus Nye.
  • Holbrooks (Coventry): Martin Wall.
  • Markeaton (Derby): Jill Hastings and Terry Hastings.
  • The Wammy (Newcastle-under-Lyme): Charlotte Small, Mandy Brassington and Sarah-Anne Fitzsimmons.

  • River Valley (Dublin): Barbara Roberts, Tony Baker and Sue Benzie.

Well done also to members who took part in other races, including the final cross country league event of the season:
  • Birmingham & District Cross Country League, race 3 (men): Our A Team of Quentin Oury (19th), Liam Harrold (35th), Andrew Wood (37th), Ryan Noon (65th), William Chiverton (83rd, first race representing ARC) and Lee Harris (84th) were placed 10th overall.  Our B Team of Luke White (96th), Neil Day (97th), Mike Morley (99th), Stephen Marshall (108), Philip Brayford (120) and Chris Moon (122) were placed 4th in the B team table.  Mark Shaw (125), Daniel Pheasant (126), Elliott Edge (130), Pete Dimbleby (138), Harshad Patel (152), Stephen Grice (170) and David Roberts (174) completed the tremendous turnout for the club.  In the Masters competition our A team of Quentin, Liam, Ryan and William came in a brilliant 3rd place, whilst our B team of Lee, Neil, Mike and Stephen came in a superb 2nd place.  It is a tremendous achievement for a club to be able to turn out two full teams plus extra runners at every event.  The best news was that, despite being short of several of our fastest runners, this great effort resulted in an overall 11th place in the league, out of the relegation zone, so ensuring another Division 2 season next year.  Well done to all who have run this season.
  • Midland Women's Cross Country League, race 3: Our scoring team of Claire Boyes (41st), Claire Crook (51st), Helen Beecham (69th) and Jo Stephens (148) came in 12th place out of 27 teams, with Shelley Nicholls (157), Anne Kelsall (164), Maria Taylor (198), Abby Wright (216), Sally Gordon (219), Rachel Antoine (240) and Jo Yarnall (241) completing our team.  Claire, Claire and Helen formed our Masters team, coming 8th out of 25 teams.  Again, a tremendous turnout - well done to all who have raced this season.
  • Portland Coastal Half Marathon: Peter Dimbleby (02:16:46)

A good number of members enjoyed the Benzie Balti night on February 8th.  Thanks to Sue for organising this.
