Performance Records
We have compiled a record of club best times in races at 5k, 10k, half-marathon and marathon for all age categories. The current record sheet can be found here. This has also allowed us to record season's best times starting at 2017 on the final sheets too. The current year's season best times are on the last sheet.
The Aldridge club records compiled here are taken from UKA affiliated events where results are confirmed either from electronic website records, the UKA Power of 10 website or official certificates of results that have been produced by runners. All times are taken from chip times where applicable. Age category scores are judged according to official race results. All times must have been achieved while a full affiliated Aldridge Running Club member.
If you would like to suggest a time that might be better than one published here in these provisional records please email us, using the subject line "Club Records, FAO Mark Shaw".

Paul Sebastian Cup
The Paul Sebastian Cup was introduced in 1990 and was awarded for the last time in 2024. The trophy was purchased and donated by Laureen Tunstall and her family in memory of her brother Paul who was a member of Aldridge Running Club in its early years
Paul had suffered from a heart problem and had been advised by his doctor to exercise, so he joined ARC.
He was a great friend and social member, who was known for wearing a woolly hat in all weathers and for going on long runs on his own (having taken a different turn somewhere along the way)
The club awarded the Paul Sebastian Cup at the annual Presentation Evening. The recipient is nominated by club members and voted for at the club’s AGM. Members vote for the person they believe has contributed the most to the club in the previous year, continuing the traditions upon which the club was founded. From 2022, when the Claire Heaven Trophy was introduced for female members, the Paul Sebastian Cup was awarded to the male 'member of the year'. In 2025 this cup was superseded by the Steve Benzie Trophy.

STEVE BENZIE TROPHY
The Steve Benzie Trophy was introduced in 2025, to replace the Paul Sebastian Cup, for the male 'member of the year', as voted for by members at the club's AGM.
Steve was a founding member of Aldridge Running Club back in 1988 and served on the committee for many years as secretary. He was an active member, running 13 marathons and numerous half marathons, 10ks and 5ks, at home and abroad. He took part in many club outings and social events and was an early competitor in the cross country team. He was a joint winner of the Paul Sebastian Cup in 2005.
Steve was passionate about the club, encouraging and welcoming new members and existing members alike. He is remembered by many as the first person to speak to them on their first club night and for his genuine interest in them. He and his wife Sue were often seen supporting club members at cross-country and other events in later years.
Steve died suddenly in October 2024 and is sadly missed by club members, so it is fitting that the club's highest award is now given in his memory.

Claire Heaven Trophy
Claire was a longstanding member of Aldridge Running Club participating in many events up and down the country, for example the Great North Run, Run for Home (usually involving Fancy Dress). She organised many trips to the Rocky Horror Show when some of the men’s and ladies outfits were questionable!
When she couldn’t run any longer Claire instigated the walking group, which is still going strong today, then later the biscuit club with the famous biscuit tin.
The trophy sits alongside the Paul Sebastian Cup and is presented annually, starting in 2022, to the female 'member of the year’, a person who fellow members feel has contributed the most to the club in the previous year, continuing the traditions upon which the club was founded. The recipient is nominated by club members and voted for at the club’s AGM.

John Floyd Cup
The John Floyd Cup was awarded from 1992 to 2024 to the member that the club committee feels has given most commitment to the club over the previous 12 months. From 2011, when the Jane Buckerfield Trophy was introduced for female members, the John Floyd Cup was awarded to a male club member. The winner cannot be on the committee as it recognises commitment by members assisting in the running of the club or participating in its activities
John Floyd was a past member who moved away from the area . He ran a trophy business and donated the cup as a parting gift to ARC wanting to thank members for their support and friendship. The Committee felt that this award was a fitting reminder of his time at the club.
In 2025 this award was superseded by the Ron Reynolds Trophy.

Ron Reynolds Trophy
Ron joined Aldridge Running Club in 1991, serving on the Committee for many years and organising kit sales. He will also be remembered for the many social walks he organised for the Club, often longer than he said but always scenic and enjoyable! In 2014 he was responsible for reviving the club Handicap competition, painstakingly compiling the records each month during the summer season. He was the recipient of our most prestigious award - the Paul Sebasatian Cup - in 2012.
Ron was an experienced runner, completing over 100 events at marathon distance or longer, with several over 80 miles. Once asked what his favourite distance was he replied "the longer the better". He was a sub-3 hour marathon runner, something that few club members have achieved. He was also a serious long-distance walker, covering many routes in the UK and abroad, with a West to East Coast of Scotland a favourite.
Ron is remembered by many runners, both within and outside of ARC for always being there with his camera, capturing memories at cross-country events, races, socials and of course our own 10k races. Known for never deleting or editing photos, some were not as flattering as we would like but we came to love these as much as those that made us look amazing!
Ron travelled extensively with the club not only running and walking but cycling, with his camera at all times.
It was clear that the club needed to have a lasting tribute to Ron's commitment to the club and to the love club members had for him, so when new trophies were needed in 2025 it was decided that his name should go on one of the major trophies.

Jane Buckerfield Trophy
The Jane Buckerfield Trophy is awarded to the member of the club that the committee feels have given the most commitment to the club over the previous 12 months and has been presented to a female member from 2011. The winner cannot be on the committee as it recognises commitment by members assisting in the running of the club or participating in its activities

Volunteer of the Year
The volunteer of the year award was started in 2023 and is voted on by the Committee to recognise the member who they think has contributed most by volunteering, not only within club-organised events such as the Aldridge 10k, cross-country events and the handicap but also as a representative in the club in wider events such as regional/national relays/races, the Aldridge Remembrance Parade and the Aldridge Christmas Tree Festival, and through individual fund-raising/charity events such as foodbank runs.
Grand Prix - Men and Ladies
The Grand Prix competition aims to encourage members to take part in races throughout the year. Members choose from a list of 'Official' races, with points awarded according to position relative to ARC runners. More information can be found on our Grand Prix page.
Aldridge 10k - Men and Ladies
Every year, club members act as stewards and officials for the Aldridge 10k, then we hold our own competition around the 10k route the following Tuesday evening. In some years an alternative 5k has been run.
Club Handicap
The handicap competition consists of monthly events from April to September, with start times calculated according to past performances, with the aim that if members run to form they will all finish at the same time. Points are awarded according to the position gained on each race.
