Past Award Winners - Paul Sebastian Cup 1990-2024
This trophy was purchased and donated by Laureen (Paul’s sister) and her family in memory of Paul, who was a member of Aldridge Running Club in its early years. Paul had suffered from a heart problem and had been advised by his doctor to exercise; he therefore joined ARC. He was a great friend and social member, known for wearing a woolly hat in all weathers and for going for long runs on his own having taken a different route somewhere along the way.
The trophy is presented annually to ‘the member of the year’, a person who fellow members feel has contributed the most to the club in the previous year, continuing the traditions upon which the club was founded. The recipient is nominated by club members and voted for at the club’s AGM.
From 2022 we have voted for two 'members of the year' - one male and one female, with the Paul Sebastian Trophy awarded to the male and the Claire Heaven Trophy awarded to the female.
The Paul Sebastian cup was retired in 2025 and replaced by the Steve Benzie Trophy. The Paul Sebastian cup is now displayed on the memorabilia table at presentation evenings.
