Past Award Winners - Steve Benzie Trophy
This trophy was introduced in 2025, to replace the Paul Sebastian Cup, to recognise the male ‘member of the year’, a person who fellow members feel has contributed the most to the club in the previous year, continuing the traditions upon which the club was founded. The recipient is nominated by club members and voted for at the club’s AGM.
The new trophy was introduced at the 2025 presentation evening by Sue Benzie, with the following words:
"Following a discussion by the committee to retire two of the older trophies I was honoured by the suggestion to present a new trophy in Steve's memory, to replace the Paul Sebastian cup, for the same criteria of outstanding performance and or commitment to ARC, as nominated and voted by the members.
"Steve was a founding member of Aldridge Running Club back in 1988. he ran 13 marathons, numerous half matrathons, 10ks and 5ks, competing in the early cross country team. He was passionate about the club, encouraging and welcoming new members and existing members alike.
"He has left a massive hole in my heart and life and I'm sure the club's too."
